When I first started reading this book I thought I was in for a thriller (I mean look at that cover!) But to be honest I think the marketing for this book, or at least the description, was misleading. I still enjoyed it but I feel like I could have enjoyed it more had I known what I was in for.
I don’t want to spoil anyone, so I’ll just say this: if you’re looking for suspense or thrills this isn’t the book for you. However, if you’re looking for a book that will shatter your heart when you least expect it, then look no further.
Tana French lead me down a path with my eyes wide open, and yet at the end I was still staring blank eyed at the last page wondering how any of it came to be. It’s subtle yet heartbreaking, and as a result I have been unable to think let alone read anything else since.
